AdRev, Content ID and YouTube claims

If a claim appears on a video using music you licensed, it clears in a day or two and it never costs you a strike.

Clear it the quick way first

Send us the video link along with the contents of your licence certificate, and say that you have licensed music from AGsoundtrax. Claims raised this way are usually cleared within 24 to 96 hours.

Write to info@agsoundtrax.com with the certificate reference from your licence PDF. That reference is what lets us match the claim to your purchase without asking you for anything else.

Why it happens at all

Our composers register their work with a company that scans uploaded YouTube content and flags what looks like unlicensed use. It is how a small library protects work that would otherwise be taken freely, and it is why composers are willing to put their best tracks here.

It is not a perfect system, and legitimate use does get flagged. If you are inside the terms of your licence, you will not receive a strike against your account. A claim is not a strike, and clearing one leaves nothing behind.

The point of the scanning is not to stop people using the music. It is to make sure that the people using it have licensed it. Somebody monetising a video with no licence ends up with advertising on it or the video pulled; somebody holding a licence gets the claim released.

A good share of flags come from people who took a track under a Creative Commons attribution, non commercial, share alike licence and then used it commercially, which that licence does not allow. If that is what happened, a licence bought here fixes it properly.

Or dispute it yourself, inside YouTube

If you would rather not wait for us, YouTube lets you dispute the claim directly and it usually resolves within one working day.

Open the video manager page.
Click the "matched third party content" link beside the video you want to dispute.
Click "Dispute".
Choose "I have a license or written permission from the proper rights holder to use this material", then Continue.
Choose "I am sure that I have a license or written permission, and I want to dispute this claim", then Continue.
Where it asks you to explain briefly, write: I have obtained a license for online use from AGsoundtrax, and add your certificate reference.
Tick the "I have a good faith belief" box and enter your name.
Click Continue, then "Submit Dispute", and confirm on the window that appears.

A confirmation page appears, and the claim is normally released within one working day.
